Comments: On 10/25/01, I made a decision to purchase Microsoft's XP software from the
Peoria store. This was based on the proposed special offers as compared to your other
competitors (OfficeMax in particular) and my long time history of purchasing
products from that store. As it turns out, this store was not able to provide any
of the offers with the exception of the free cd which I received that day with my
purchase. I was forced to take rainchecks for the memory, DSL Router and Rio MP3
player. Three weeks later a friend informs me that the memory was in (he noticed
it while in the store - in fact, my name was on a pink slip inside of the packaging
and available for anyone to see (address, phone number etc.) I went in
that day and asked for the items that I had rainchecks for. Employee informed
me that none of the items were in and that I would be called when they were available.
After pointing out the memory with my name on it, he decided that just the memory was
available. If that wasn't annoying enough, it took me over an hour and a half to check
out since the office clerks couldn't figure out how to charge me since it was no longer
programmed in their computers. Since that time, I have been in at least once a week
asking for my merchandise and each time receive the same excuse that it isn't in and that
they would call me when it was available. Oh, and this is usually followed by a whine
that they only had 3 Rio players sent to them for this promotion. Totally frustrated,
I called one more time this weekend and yes, heard the exact same whine. I proceeded
to ask for an individual who could provide me with a date it would be available and
received the response that there was nobody who could answer it - end of call. I am
now furious with your store. It is now 12/10/01 and there appears to be NO resolution
to this problem. Somebody needs to explain to me immediately why I am not the victim
of fraud as a result of essentially being robbed of $199.98 (your advertised price
for the router and the Rio player in the ad that convinced me to purchase XP at your store).
The way I currently see it is your store deceptively swayed my purchase decision based on
products you had no intention of delivering - nor capable seeing the amount of time that
has passed without resolution. This is further frustrating since I convinced my friends
to purchase from your store as well instead of going to your competitor. Note, this
does not appear to be an isolated case based on the number of people I have conversed
with that are having the same problem. My questionis simple - How will you resolve this
situation? - you can assume future purchases and references will be based on your response.
Completely Frustrated Customer
